Zorig Chusum

Literally translating as the “School of the 13 Traditional Arts and Crafts,” the Zorig Chusum is always an interesting visit for those who enjoy art. An essential part of Bhutan’s cultural heritage is the traditional and visual 13 arts and crafts, including wall painting, sculpting, wood carving, paper making, masonry, weaving, embroidery and applique, casting, cane and bamboo weaving, metal ornament making, bronze casting, blacksmithing, and wood turning. What we value about this school is that it provides critical vocational training to preserve these ancient traditions, and classes are usually open to visitors to observe and interact with students and instructors, making it a fun experience for everyone. The school also has a quaint little shop where you can pick up a memorable souvenir too!
